Casaca won the Memorial and Pearlside won the Gran Critérium

Casaca (GB, 2006), ch. filly [Medicean-Priena(Priolo)], owned by Cuadra África, trained by J. M. Osorio and ridden by Jeremy Crocquevieille, won yesterday the GP Memorial Duque de Toledo (2,400 m, 3yo+, weight for age, 30,000 euros), beating the favourite Pazifizsturm (GER. 2007) [Samum-La Parabol(Trempolino)], owned by Cuadra Martul, trained by Ana Imaz Ceca and ridden by J.B. Hamel, with Casaca's half brother and stablemate Entre Copas (Sakhee) third and Arnuero (Sakhee) fourth.

Entre Copas was the frontrunner and kept the lead for the first half of the home stretch, in which he was surpassed by Pazifiksturm who looked like he was to win. However, in a long and progressive late charge, Casaca came from last at the beginning of the stretch to win by a margin of one and a half lengths.

This is the most important race won by Casaca, who was the best filly in Spain in 2011 (winning the Premio Kutxa and the Premio Benítez de Lugo) and was 3rd in the Prix Fille de l'Air (Gr. 3). She sustained an injury and reappeared in July in San Sebastián, being 5th, then 3rd in the Premio Kutxa, then 2nd in Madrid in the Benítez de Lugo and now winner of the Memorial.

Delcher S and ridden by J. Grosjean, beating easily Dagoberto (Dyhim Diamond), with Sleeping Wan (Sleeping Indian) third and Mou the Special (Refuse to Bend) fourth.

Pearlside won the Premio Carlos Sobrino in her previous start and is the half sister to Baldoria (also winner of the Gran Critérium and winner at 3 of the GP Ciudad de Madrid).
